I worked as a World Director on the Fangwai City map for THE FINALS. My main responsibilty was leading the maps team to delivering a fun and visually striking player experience. This included planning, blockouts, creating assets, textures, materials, optimazation and working close to all the other departments. This map was built for Season 9 of THE FINALS called Dragon Rising. We wanted to create an experience where we capture the Chinese megacities where you can find old historical buildings right next to modern skyscrapers. Our main insperations are a mix from Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chongqing. I was working together with Anders Schei to create buildings that really captures that megacity with a mix of old/new apartments and skyscrapers. Because there is a lot of them in the map, we needed to make sure to create them in a cheap way but still have a lot of details. Using houdini for scattering and to create variations we were able to sell the feeling of a megacity. I was also working on some street assets, setting up road modules and curb shaders that the team were able to use across the map.
